Help for Behavior and Development in Kids
As summer ends, most of us have or know kids going back to school. This week we’d love to share with you some solutions that other worldwide leaders are discovering help their kids to stay out of trouble and focused in the class room. The focus being the Omega-3 DHA.
DHA is a part of Omega-3 that in children is helpful with learning and memory, protects the brain, eyes, and immune system, and supports healthy mood and nerve health. It is often considered essential for proper brain development in infants and children. Getting the proper nutrition is important your entire life but most everyone agrees, that early on it is key to development.
We recently read a few studies from Europe about high school students that were so called “problem children” taking DHA and seeing significant drops in behavior problems. We also read another study suggesting that DHA in younger developing children can help with ADHD and even autism. Of course, more studies are needed to cement these observations into facts but I am pleased to read about people waking up to the nutritional deficiencies in our kids and trying to fix it with something other than a drug.
The most common way for us as Midwesterners to get quality DHA is from a quality fish oil supplement. Of course, if you can get cold water clean fish like Artic Cod or Salmon, then eating this 3-4 times a week would be of great benefit.
