Detox Part Two: Ionic Foot Bath and Infrared Sauna

Why detox? From the moment we wake up in the morning till the moment we go to bed, our bodies are constantly exposed to toxic chemicals-from body soaps to moisturizers, shaving creams to shampoos, and even the toothpastes we use. Detoxing helps remove things that don’t belong in your body in the first place.


This week we are going to discuss two ways to detox: the ionic foot bath and the infrared sauna. The use of ionization; where water (in the confines of a foot bath) is charged with both positive and negative ions (acting then in a similar way to concentrated salt in water) is founded on the historical system of healing using concentrated sea salt baths to draw out impurities in the body. When the body is able to eliminate toxins and metabolic waste, then inflammation, edema, and swelling all decrease, allowing the body to repair itself and reduce pain within muscles and joints. It purges and/or detoxifies the body of toxins, chemicals, radiation, pollution and other materials trapped in the tissues. The less polluted your body is, the more your body will work to its best capacity.


Another effective way to detoxify your body is through regular infrared sauna use. Just like light from the sun, infrared waves in our sauna penetrate up to 1-1/2 inches below your skin to detoxify and revitalize your cells. The resulting deep, highly efficient sweat eliminates toxins at the cellular level. The deep penetration of infrared heat releases toxins from the fat layers just beneath the skin. It also helps your body eliminate toxins from your internal organs. These toxins pass from the organs to the fat tissue under the skin. Then they are eliminated in perspiration.
